Warm Christmas Wine (Gluwhein)

Ingredients:

• 1 lt red wine merlot
• 180ml water
• 180gr honey
• 2 oranges
• 2 cinnamon sticks
• 2 pcs star anise
• 10 whole cloves
• Half a tsp nutmeg
• 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
• 150 ml of brandy
• 1/4 tsp cardamom

How to:

1. Cut one orange into slices and pin on, the cloves. Squeeze the second orange and keep the juice.
2. On medium heat, heat the water with the honey. When they are mixed well, add the red wine and the rest of the spices.
3. Cardamom, star anise, cinnamon sticks, orange slices with pinned cloves, vanilla.
4. Add the nutmeg and the orange juice.
5. Heat over low to medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes. We do not want it to boil because the alcohol will evaporate.
6. Remove from the heat and add the brandy.
7. Strain and serve hot.
