Tips for dyeing Easter eggs the right way

The basic tips for the proper painting of eggs.

  1. Use eggs that expire sooner and not for a long time from the day you make them, so you can peel them easily. This is a general rule that applies every time we use our eggs for cooking and especially if we are going to cook them very well. The explanation is simple: as time goes on, the egg loses its carbon dioxide and moisture so it peels off more easily from the membrane that covers the egg white.
  2. Vinegar helps eggs boil without breaking, there is another reason why you should not forget to put a little in the pot: vinegar will help your paint to sit better and last longer on the surface of the egg.
  3. In commercial dyes, it is better to choose a hot water dye as it will give a more intense and stable color to your eggs.
  4. The white eggs get a bright red color from the dye. While the beige eggs get intense deep.
  5. Eggs to be painted should be at room temperature. If you have them in the fridge, take them out and give them time to come to room temperature. This way, we will avoid sharp and abrupt temperature changes and they will not break during cooking.
  6. Clean them thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any dirt.
  7. Lay a soft cotton cloth evenly on the bottom of the pot. The cloth will help prevent the eggs from breaking.
  8. Then carefully remove the painted red eggs with a large spoon, letting them dry on cardboard.
  9. After they dry well, with a piece of cotton or a piece of cotton cloth dipped in olive oil, polish the red eggs one by one.

Painting Easter eggs is one of the oldest customs of Christian Easter. The origin seems to be from Central Asia and from there he "traveled" to Europe and to Christians everywhere. Send us your secrets for the perfect painting!
